A great gaming headset is key when it comes to truly enjoying your online gaming experience. Whether you are trying to chat and coordinate with your team or talking smack to online players, your headset really affects how incredible your game time is. With their Stealth 420X Xbox One Headset, Turtle Beach does not fail to deliver. Even with the few flaws, you cannot deny this is a great Xbox One headset, especially when you consider the price- which comes in at just under £150.

Before we get started on the review, here is what you need to know about the Turtle Beach headset for Xbox One. The headset is officially licensed for use with Xbox One, so you can expect high quality. It includes enhanced audio with four separate audio presets (including Bass Boost), separate chat and game audio controls, and a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 15 hours at its fullest capacity. Additionally, the Turtle Beach Stealth 420X headset is fully wireless and has mobile compatibility.

The first thing you are going to notice about this piece of equipment is how it looks coming out of the box. The headset features the signature black and green design that is typical to Xbox One products by Turtle Beach, however, it appears to be rather clunky. It definitely does not offer the most in the aesthetic department. The clunky design, however, is very comfortable, lightweight, and durable.

The moulding itself is made of plastic. However, the plastic is very durable and you can tell that this headset would probably withstand a drop (though we did not test this ourselves). Additionally, the earphone pieces are made of synthetic leather and memory foam cushioning, which offers a high level of comfort. This makes the Turtle Beach Stealth 420X Xbox One Headset great for long gaming sessions, especially when you combine the high level of comfort with a 15 hour battery life.

Sound Quality

Let’s get down to what you really need to know about your headset- how great the sound is. There are two areas where this headset loses points. First, there is no support for 7.1 surround sound. This may be a deal breaker for some, but you still will not be disappointed with the sound quality that these headphones offer. The sound remains sharp regardless of volume level. It allows you to hear every part of gameplay- from ear-shattering explosions to subtle sounds in the gaming environment. Voices also come through crystal clear.

The second thing to note is that there is no external noise cancellation. This, however, is not a problem unless you are at a gaming party or in a crowded room. Otherwise, it is likely that the crystal clear sounds will drown out any background noise in your gaming environment.

Other Considerations

The way that this Xbox One headset works is through an RF transmitter. This allows you to connect the headset to your console using a USB port. When Turtle Beach advertises this product as wireless, they really mean it. Set up is a breeze and even the microphone that you use for party chat is wireless, meaning you never have to worry about getting tangled again. To date, this is the only Xbox One headset able to accomplish this feat.

There are a few features that the Stealth 420X Xbox One Headset by Turtle Beach misses, however, you cannot be disappointed when you consider the price tag. Additionally, when you consider how comfortable the headset is and the quality of sound that is offered despite the few missing features, you are getting a great deal for your money. The deal is made even better when you realise that this is the only headset that is truly wireless on the market at this time. This is definitely a headset you should consider with all of the new games for Xbox One that are being released.
